November 25, 2014 – PEI Humane Society appoints a new Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the PEI Humane Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Marla Somersall as the Society’s new Executive Director following the resignation of Kelly Mullaly in September.
“Marla’s previous position as Executive Director of Samaritan House Ministries Inc in Brandon, Manitoba, and her extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector make her a perfect fit for her new role with the Society,” says PEIHS Board President, Wendy MacIntyre. “Just as for the PEI Humane Society, the Samarian House depends heavily on volunteers and donations to successfully serve the community. As an experienced manager and advocate for causes, Marla has exactly the right mix of skills and knowledge that we need for the Society to meet the ever-increasing need for our programs and services.”
November 17, 2014 – PEI Humane Society launches its annual fundraising campaign
The PEI Humane Society has launched its annual “No Place Like Home” fundraising campaign. With a target of $60,000 to raise to bolster its annual operating costs, the Society is using a combination of social media, direct mail and flyer drops across the Island to inform people of its work and the need for people to give generously to support its programs and services.
February 11, 2014 – PEI Humane Society To Partner With PetSmart in Adoption Weekend

The PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend, happening at the Charlottetown PetSmart location, 51 Babineau Avenue from February 14 – 16th, is the perfect place to make that happen.
March 5, 2014 – PEI Humane Society To Host a Microchip Clinic
The PEI Humane Society is holding a low-cost microchip clinic on Sunday, March 9th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Blue Ribbon Pet Supply, located at 375 University Ave, Charlottetown.
“Having your pet microchipped and ensuring your contact information is up-to-date with the microchip company gives you a far better chance of being reunited with your lost pet,” explains Acting Shelter Manager, Cathy Kenny.
January 24, 2014 – The Second Annual National Cupcake Day™
Calling all bakers and animal lovers! The second annual National Cupcake Day™ is set for Monday, February 24th and everyone across the Island is invited to bake their best cupcakes, host a cupcake party, share cupcakes with family, friends and colleagues, and collect donations all in support your local Humane Society.
April 9, 2013 – Planet Beach Spa Surprise Recognition Program
The PEI Humane Society and Planet Beach Spa have recently joined forces to introduce the “Spa Surprise” Recognition Program. The “Spa Surprise” is a monthly program that recognizes an adopter, donor or volunteer by surprising them with a spa package for going above and beyond when those special circumstances call for it.
